DE Flowering of almonds means the beginning of spring on the island of Tenerife.
On the territory of the island of Tenerife, a large number of almonds grow (Prunus dulcis). It can often be found on the slopes of the volcano at an altitude of about 600 -1500 meters above sea level.
Almonds begin to bloom in January-February, depending on the weather. And the flowering continues in March and April. The almonds ripen in June-July. Flowers vary from white to a rich pink color. During the flowering of almonds, the mountainous regions of Tenerife resemble Japanese gardens with cherry blossoms.
Almonds are often confused with a nut, although in fact it is a stone fruit (the next of kin is a plum or peach). Its fruits are widely used in canarian cuisine - in sauces with meat, as well as in biscuits, cakes and pastries. In Tenerife, during the flowering of almonds, walking tours are organized around the volcano Ciniero. It is a very beautiful mountainous region with amazing views.
