Easter in Tenerife.

Spaniards are fervent about religion. Therefore, the main holiday of Spain in the spring is Easter (in 2018 falls on April 1). Easter in Spain is considered a public holiday and therefore Thursday, Friday and Saturday before Easter are the days off. Thousands of Spaniards these days go to relatives and friends and arrange themselves a small vacation. Canary Islands - an excellent place for an Easter weekend. In Tenerife Easter is celebrated according to the Catholic calendar. Preceded by the Holy Week, as the Spaniards call it, Holy Week. An important day in the Easter calendar is Friday of Pain, when a worship takes place before the Mother of God and her suffering for her son. It is on this day in Tenerife that the first processions of believers are held. The next day is called the Palm Sunday - this is the day of the liturgy before the beginning of the Holy Week.

The entire Canarian archipelago enters a period of colorful theatrical performances and street processions. In the south of Tenerife, the most colorful presentation takes place on Holy Friday in the municipality of Adeje. With the support of the local government, a theatrical presentation is held here, dedicated to several days of Jesus Christ, from coming to Jerusalem and before crucifixion on Calvary. Having visited this presentation, one can understand the significance of Christian traditions in modern Canarian society.
