Discounts for air and sea transport for the inhabitants of the Canary Islands.

On July 3, a meeting was held between the ministers and presidents of the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands. The Minister of Public Works, Jose Luis Abalos, promised island residents that a 75% bonus on air and sea trips to the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands will come into force already this month. Residents of the archipelago are considered only those of its inhabitants who are an EU citizen or are a member of the family of an EU citizen. The holders of a long-term (from 5 years) resident card can also use the discount. In addition, to get a discount, you need a residence permit in one of the provincial municipalities, confirmed by the relevant document. The Minister of Railways of the Canary Islands Pablo Rodriguez hopes that this step will raise the demand for domestic flights, which will promote the development of local tourism in such islands as La Gomera or La Palma, which do not have a large flow of foreign tourists.
