The best addition to food in Tenerife is local wines. Wines of Tenerife have their own unique aroma and taste. This is due to the fact that the vineyards here grow on volcanic soil in their microclimate. The island of Tenerife is divided into five wine-growing regions, which differ in the produced wines. Let's take a quick look at them and the varieties of wines produced there.
• District Icoden-Daute-Isora. Located on the slopes of the volcano Teide. Pink, white and red wines are made here. The most popular brands are white Vinatigo Blanco, Malvasia Dulce, Malvasia Tradicional and red Vinatigo Tintilla;
• Tacoronte Acentejo. This wine region is located in the north of Tenerife and white, red and rosé wines are also produced here. Of these, the following can be noted: red Crater, Autor, Vendimia Seleccionada and pink Petit Verdot Rosado.
• Valle de Orotava. This region has very fertile valleys, which gives the grapes a rich aroma and a delicate taste. The most popular wines in this region are the red Cruz del Teide Tinto Vendimia Seleccionada, Arautava Tinto Fermentado en Barrica, Gran Tehjda Selec;
• Abona district. This wine region is located in the south of Tenerife. Here they cultivate grapes, from which they later get dessert wines. Such varieties as white Malvasia Essencia, red Erwin and pink Cumbritas are in great demand;
• Valle de Guimar. This wine region is located in the east of Tenerife and the vineyards here are located at an altitude of 200 to 800 m above sea level. Among the popular wines worth noting: sparkling Rondell, Rose Semi Seco and white Contiempo.
